Star Trek fans still have about a month to wait until the next film starring Kirk and Spock hits theatres, but for those who need an Enterprise-sized Trek fix and can’t wait for the premiere of Star Trek Into Darkness in May, the latest Star Trek video game is now available.
On Tuesday, the latest game starring Captain James T. Kirk and Lt. Cmdr. Spock hit stores. The co-op shooter game pits the crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise – as they appear in the new Star Trek universe from the J.J. Abrams series of films — against the lizard-like alien race known as The Gorn.
Developed by London, Ont.’s Digital Extremes and co-published by Namco Bandai Games and Paramount Pictures, the new game is designed to extend the Abrams Star Trek universe, picking up after the events of the 2009 re-boot Star Trek.
This week on the podcast, we were very pleased to be joined by Brian Miller, senior vice president at Paramount Pictures and the producer on the Star Trek video game.
In a conversation with Post Arcade editor Matt Hartley, Mr. Miller discusses the new game, the challenges of producing a title based on the Star Trek universe and how the new game fits into the larger Star Trek canon.
